If you are in Delhi, you have to visit Gandhi’s memorial. The history and passion of Mahatma Gandhi makes the memorial even more special. A simple square platform of black marble marks the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assassination in 1948. It is left open to the sky while an eternal flame burns perpetually at one end. It is located on the banks of the river Yamuna in Delhi in India on Ring Road officially known as Mahatma Gandhi Road. A stone footpath flanked by lawns leads to the walled enclosure that houses the memorial. It is surrounded by a beautiful park with labelled trees planted by notables like Queen Elizabeth II, USA President Eisenhower, Ho Chi Minh and various others. Two museums dedicated to Gandhiji are nearby.
